On the "Eagle's Nest"

Rob mentioned that a friend of his said that the Eagle's Nest was close to Ruhpolding. Sure 'nough, it's about a 40 minute drive. "Berchtesgaden" is the name of the town. I've known that name, oddly, since I was a kid. From General Burkalter, of course. Yes, on Hogan's Heroes. But never thought I would get to go there someday. More importantly, there are some great scenes from "Band of Brothers" shot at the Eagle's Nest; I think it was the 82nd Airborne guys who were there at the end of the war; discovered Hermann Goering's underground cavern of wine, did their best to finish off the 200,000 bottles. I've seen the shot many times on History Channel and the Military Channel of Hitler in his dress white coat on the patio of the teahouse up there. The scenery is, even for the old cinema, spectacular to say the least. Think we ought to go for it on this one.
