Any time one can get maps out and pore over them in a public place.....well, that's just gotta be good. Took and christened my new travel backpack....netbook, travel books, and mapes.....to Opal Divines this week. We got a chance to wag out the maps and spread them on the table along with our 512 "EEPA". Looking at the drive from Passau to Krackow, which appears to be about 8 hours.
I stopped by a couple of bookstores and had some new maps of Hungary, Northern Italy. Michelin driving maps. Also read some more from Rick, and I'm reminded that he suggests covering long stretches in a train, then renting a car to explore in a central area. Not a rocket science idea, but I think the combination of rail tickets and car rental may be prohibitive. I'll have to do a little looking around on that one. As it says, another successful evening at Opal's.
